I've been thinking about my habits in general, and I have to admit.. I am a homebody. I hate being too far away from home. I like working on my garden, cooking, working on crafts.. if only I had a potters wheel and a honeycomb.. then I definitely wouldn't leave this place.

DUH!
Once again, I had neglected to check the fibre composition of cloth. I guess it happens to everyone. I bought broadcloth with some thought that it would be 100% cotton. Well DUH - after waxing and dyeing, I noticed that it was so much lighter than my 100% cotton sateen cotton cloth. After researching online I found out that the broadcloth that I bought was 65% polyester and 35% cotton. DUH DUH DUH! Another lesson to always check fiber content before buying.

My Bio for Craft Magazine
I'm proud to say that one of my articles got accepted into Craft Magazine, one of my favourite magazines of all time! There was a time when I watched make podcasts every weekend though they have become somewhat too technical for me to understand. I was emailed today that I should write a 150 word bio, except I am somewhat unsure as to what I should write about. Things I should include:
- I've really been into textile arts for a long time since my mum worked as a seamstress as a kid
- I dye, batik and do shibori
- I also knit and crochet
- I also make soap
- And I do ceramics
- I'm really interested in fibres and natural dyes
- I like to make large pieces of fabrics to be made into other things
- I like making things with my hands
- On the side I do user experience research :)
I also should include a picture - wistful? Something made out of batik? Help!

ceramics class!
Finally - I've found a place to take ceramics! Manhattan Beach community center! It's been since 2005 since I last glazed and threw pots, so I'm in for some instruction. The community center also has open studio on Wednesdays.

ice cream
I have always had this kind of obsession with ice cream. As a kid we had tubs of ice cream in storage in our downstairs freezer. My favourite was the master's choice french vanilla. We used to go to that frozen goods store in rexdale, and get chapman's icecream. I liked their cherry flavour, with chunks of half marachino cherries found inside. Delicious! Me and my sister one time made granitas. That was hard. The lime was too sour for my taste. My dream was to have an ice cream maker. I remember wanting the play plastic icecream maker on a commercial. I also remember taking out books and reading about making icecream from a coffeecan and a wooden spoon with a hole drilled into the middle. My dream of making ice cream was rekindled after listening to a Good Food podcast on David Lebowitz. So I made a vanilla ice cream!

Snowy Day Shibori
I'm currently working on Shibori. My throw is going to be a wedding present for a friend, Owen Waygood. One of my favourite artists is Ezra Jack Keats, and my favourite book of his is Snowy Day. The shibori I'm going to do is actually a mixed piece but its going to remind me of one of the last few pages found in the Snowy Day.
